Obstetrics

As of the 1st April 2012 I will be birthing my patients at The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim.

We are committed to providing you with the very best of obstetric care.  Pregnancy and caring for your baby can be an exciting and enjoyable time for you and your partner.

Our practice offers a wide range of services including birthing, antenatal care, CTG monitoring and scanning services.  We will endeavour to ensure a healthy baby and mother during your pregnancy and childbirth.

To complement your care we have Irene our Nurse Midwife .  She is here to support you through your pregnancy.  You are more than welcome to phone or visit the midwife to discuss any concerns you may have.  Irene is available Monday, Wednesday & Thursday.

Ideally your first visit should be made when you are around 12 weeks of your pregnancy.  As soon as you are aware of your pregnancy please contact our rooms to make an appointment for your initial consultation.

Throughout your pregnancy you will be seen at regular intervals by Dr. Bogiatzis.  At these appointments any relevant testing (blood tests, ultrasound scans) will be organised.

Education - Antenatal classes and self-education are the most efficient way of learning about pregnancy and childbirth. We recommend you visit www.birth.com.au & http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/rf_pregnancy?open.  These are reputable websites with reliable information. During your reading please discuss any issues that arise. It is general and does not contain all known facts.

Booking into the Hospital (20wks) - Maternity Support Services at the The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital will contact you for your pre-admission appointment. You will attend this appointment at approximately 32-34 weeks.  The Midwives will take a detailed history and discuss your birthing requirements.  They also offer childbirth education classes, breastfeeding workshops and can organise a tour of the hospital. Ph: 5430 3152.

For further information go to their website at www.uchealth.com.au/scph and follow the prompts to maternity.

Jan Murray from Settle Petal will be available, to guide you and prepare you for going home. She is available for appointments. Jan can also address any sleeping, settling or feeding issues to create a positive home environment.   Jan provides valuable information and support for parents to develop their knowledge base and confidence in raising babies and toddlers.
Jan is an international author who is releasing her latest book "Mum & baby together we learn". You can learn more about Jan through her website.  www.settlepetal.com or call her on 0410 475 437.
